GAMECENTER WOULD BE A HUUUUGE FEATURE to add. and ALL reviewers on youtube that I have seen mention if it is gamecenter or not. but honestly, when I play a game, I don't give a crap about gamecenter. maybe its just me. I heard you can have "friends" on gamecenter and things like that. but I just don't really use it that often. but yes, I am VERY MUCH wanting it as much as you all. haha. We also need TABLE ARRAYS and POLYGONs and VIDEO SUPPORT DL
We need to continuously bump this thread if we want them to even notice it!!! So, bump.... Game Center is very easy to add (and very important), why can't they just add it and many other very easy features!!! Like Camera and music (from the owner's iPod) support, or gyroscope support... I mean, come on people!!! They've almost completely given up on the community!!
If you need Game Center support, go use another toolset. Simple as that.
Yes, we would probably all love to have it but you should never, ever use or buy a product based on what you hope it might do or a promised feature. Read that sentence again :-).
As a product manager myself, I can tell you that there absolutely is a roadmap and while sharing the general direction of the product with us is great they are probably only sharing things they know they are firm on. There is a world of things going on including bugs and issues probably none of us are aware of. No matter what feature is added, there will always be a large group who can't live without <x> feature. Everyone including GS know how important Gamecenter support is, and if it would be delivered already if they didn't have other things that needed focus as well.
It says Beta for a reason, and the price reflects it. I get frustrated too and I have a game right now that really needs Gamecenter support to be as successful as I'd like. I'm going to keep polishing it for a few months and if GS doesn't have it I'll port it to Corona.
GS is a great tool and without it I wouldn't be enjoying development. I'm thankful to have it as one of the "masses" that doesn't want to code if given a choice.

I was all with you right up to this. Unless i'm just completely not understanding here that would be the accelerometer. Which GameSalad does support. Correct me if there is something else you are talking about.

Like firemaplegames said, the iPhone 4 and the new iPod touch have gyroscopes as well as the accelerometer... It allows the user to move their device using pitch, roll, and yaw... If you don't know what a gyroscope is, go to a nearby place that sells them (like Cracker Barrel)... They are cheap and they're freaking awesome!!
ReM said: I'd take any sort of leaderboard at this point... oh and maybe no more splash screen for PRO users.
Why do you care about the splash screen, you shouldn't bother helping GameSalad out, I mean if you're not proud to use GameSalad then find an other software. And also people who doesn't program doesn't even notice the splash screen, so I see no need to change this.
You don't have to program to know about GameSalad's reputation. It's not that people don't want to help GameSalad promote their name. It's more that other people in the community are producing crap, and hurting the GS name. So when people see the GS logo, they automatically assume that it's going to be a bad game, and will look at it from a different perspective.
Game Center should be the priority at the moment though.

Pretty much what hrsmedia said. I love GS, but man I have seen some good games get ripped apart once they see GS associated with it. And this has nothing to do with GS and the quality of their product, it's is purely a branding issue. Instead of sticking their name on any and everything maybe they should try and establish partnerships with games they feel can strengthen their brand.
Anyways, I didn't mean to hijack the thread about splash screen stuff... I would still really like to see GC implemented. Top of my list!
Corona now supports full UI (list controls, and bunch of other stuf) and looks like they will be supporting 3D as well.
I heard through a webcast that they are adding GameCenter and bunch of other ways to monetize. They also had a webcast with the founders, looks like they are doing one every month.
I also heard something PUSH notifications in Corona is coming soon as well! ... I was fortunate enough to have been able to beta test out some of the UI implementation, it's a BREEZE to implement. So now games AND apps are very much viable in Corona.
I was able to create and populate an ENTIRE list control with just ONE line of code (loaded the list items from a simple xml file).
I repurposed an open source high scores PHP script that allows scores to be submitted through a URL and after a score is submitted the webpage displays a list of high scores in the web browser. This way, if you could create URLs as expressions (rather than static text like it is now) you could insert the high score and a name, and a game ID and key, and the score would get added to the high scores website and the user would see the high score list in Safari. I was hoping to offer it to other gamesalad devs as a way to add "worldwide" high scores to their games until GS took care of adding something more complicated like gamecenter, but lo and behold the open URL behavior is bizarrely crippled. I've opened a forum topic about making it an expression before and I have seen others mention it. Is there a way to submit feature requests? This one just seems so trivial.
Then Safari would open, the score would get submitted, and a high score list would be displayed showing the top 5 or 10 scores from the day, and top 5 or 10 scores for all time. The script and database is done, but GameSalad can't create a URL as an expression.
There are other benefits to making URLs expressions, like submitting a score to Twitter (or maybe even Facebook) in lieu of social networking integration being developed into gamesalad.

When is GS salad going to respond?
I removed your Youtube vids, as you've posted them before, and frankly, you come across as a bit of a Corona Troll.
Sorry, that's how I see it. You don't see us lot wandering over to the Corona forums and posting about GS's drag and drop stuff do you?
Imagine it - over 30 videos with each behaviour dragged and dropped into a scene...
Anyway, the crux of your post is still there, and your point made. Just like your other posts that got deleted.

Nothing personal, John, but you can have all the great features in the world at your disposal. It won't help you make a 'better' game.

Stop us all whinging and let us know what's happening with GC (if anything)
pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease.
Agreed, im getting a little sick of every thread that has to eascalate to 5 pages or more before GS answers ... Then we're all told that they're really excited because they will be on the forums a hell of a lot more, we then see a couple of extra yellow posts, maybe even a yellow post from a new member and then it goes back to silence again.

Well, if they don't give answers, you just have to find them. I practiced the art of Competitive Intelligence while following ArenaNet. The company started off very friendly and open. But then, the company grew silent. So, I had to develop other means to gather information about what was going on inside the company.
Unlike spying or espionage, competitive intelligence is ethical. You're gathering information legally and morally about your rivals. But in this case, GameSalad is not a competitor. They're just really REALLY quiet.
Yet, it's not too difficult to find information about what's going on inside. I don't think it's wise to share these methods with you, as GameSalad Inc will learn how to plug the holes. Heh... I've seen it happen before.
It appears that GameSalad is not going away anytime soon, so they're obviously working on stuff. GameSalad is interested in feedback from this community. Otherwise, there wouldn't be surveys and a forum. So, threads like this highlight what's important to the community.
It doesn't matter if the yellow posts respond. If this thread keeps getting bumped, they're probably going to notice and have internal conversations about it.

They say "talk is cheap" so on one hand it's kind of refreshing that someone doesn't come out and brag about ..... (fill in the blanks).
On the other hand, a few days ago, someone dug up an old post (mid last year?) that featured a comment by "You know who" stating that they are working on game center.
Basically, their attitude towards the forum came out last week when one guy left. A "strong" intervention post early on from GS could have prevented the stupidity that followed ... and then some.
Photics has made many well argued suggestions, no doubt, they are aware of what's going on but the role a community manager plays, they do not understand. In all fairness, i can not see a business model in the way things are going because the majority makes too little money to justify a pro license and some who have what it takes to go pro rather invest $199 Dollars elsewhere to avoid the splash and idle time plus what ever headaches are involved with the viewer etc ...
The best they can do is talk to us but unfortunately, they are as shy as the chubby kid who doesn't get a date for prom night because he was too chicken to ask!

Discussing the pricing model for GameSalad is fascinating.
GameSalad clearly wants to leverage the community to help promote GameSalad. I don't think this is working for them. Here's an example...
Do you see that spike? I think that's the bubble ball spike. Corona surged in popularity over GameSalad because someone made a hit game with Corona. Yet... Corona doesn't have a forced splash screen. What should that tell the GameSalad team?
Make good software and the developers will find it.
I think $499 a year is too high. (I can upgrade Flash for about the same money and keep it indefinitely.) But if GameSalad was stable, didn't have the forced splash screen and it had features like Game Center / in-app purchases, I think most developers would tolerate it. Also, I suspect that Apple TV could turn into a game console. That would be even more money to be made. Suddenly, the $499 a year doesn't seem so bad.
If you have 20,000 developers paying $500 a year, that's 10 million dollars. Plus, this website can easily be expanded into the next Zynga. That could lead to billions of dollars!
How does that happen? It all starts with good games! If the developers say that Game Center would make their games better, then that should take priority.
What do the developers around here complain about most? The price? Not really. I think that problem has been solved.
It's basically two things... • Lack of features (Specifically Apple's iOS standards, like Game Center / in-app purchases.) • Forced Splash Screen
I don't think it takes too much to keep this community happy — make GameSalad better and don't try to own our games.
A quick look to the bottom of this forum will show we have :
50,496 members
only just over 2000 of them seem to be active though.
so.. 50K members, what percentage do we think are pro subs? I would suggest less than 10% (at a guess)
As for the splash screen.. I don't really have a big deal with it. Back in the day, when load times were like 15 seconds, maybe it was an issue for me, but now, I'm not too fussed. I've personally not had a bashing because the apps are made with GS (apart from that one guy who always bashes GS apps)
The lack of features is getting troublesome though.. especially when other SDKs seem to be adding new features at a great rate.
I have said this many times before though...this is all assuming GS wants to compete as an SDK.. or take up residence as an entry to game making package....I suspect the latter is their main aim, which isn't great for those of us wanting to use the tool in a more professional way.
